Things are going to be pretty sparse on the site till we get back to China in December. But don't worry - Tovina's enjoying herself!

A small trip

We've made it. Just a short 23 hours after leaving our apartment we are safe and sound with family in the States. It was a new experience for us, traveling with a somewhat non-communicative person who requires a lot of extra baggage. One of the exciting moments was as we got seated on our first (11-hour) flight and realized that we had left the diaper bag under the stroller that was probably being stored under the plane at that very moment. Luckily they retrieved it for us.

While we were waiting there was an announcement that the flight had been delayed due to, um... flight deck issues. For a scary 10 minutes we thought that might be us and we were preparing to be lynched. Luckily for us it was just a engine generator problem though.

Blue skies...

October was a glorious month with days and days of blue skies, everyone of them was a treasure. There were at least 20 blue sky days during the month! Or at least is seemed that way. The first day of November was the same and my hopes soared.

Then came the 5th, 6th, and 7th days and we are back to weather as usual. Ah, the lovely shades of gray/brown. Predictably enough along with the weather came the usual Beijng cough. Even the little one has started coughing, though it may be due to all the drool she is producing and swallowing.

Party Time!

We decided to have a community party to celebrate Tovina's first 100 days! (well almost 100 days. Actually it was more like 93, but that was when we had time.)

She was a great sport and allowed herself to be passed from person to person, sharing smiles and in depth conversation all the while.

What a pretty... doll?

I have been told by Chinese people that they thought I was carrying a doll when I am walking around with Tovina in the front back. I have found that comment surprising. But I've heard various phrases referring to her as a doll many times. Today it was finally explained to me.

To say she looks like a doll, means that she looks very adorable and, well, almost perfect - doll like.

Suddenly I like those comments much more.
