I'm trying to identify the crap stuck all around her mouth.. could it be yams?
That would the remnants of her tzimiss lunch. And the tzimiss included sweet potatoes and carrots so you are pretty close.
It is turning out to be much harder than I expected to wash her face after eating. Shosh's explanation of why humans don't like having towels wiped across their faces often come to mind.
